What exactly did the wartime generation fight for?

The wartime generation were told they were fighting for freedom and Democracy. Since and to some extent before 1945, Britain has drifted into a Corporatocracy, where the individual is nothing more than an item to be financially exploited.   Some examples of how  our freedom is being eroded can be seen below:
