I believe we all have different levels of perception, some people are very aware of their environment and those around them. Others appear to be insensitive, care little for individuals' feelings and aspire to primitive behaviour in order to assert themselves. History has shown us that in war, governments tell you what they want you to know, but not necessarily the truth. Conflict is presented as “good versus evil”, but it is rarely that simple, there is usually a hidden agenda and the facts that led up to aggression are often distorted or conveniently forgotten. The only victors in wars are the rulers, generals, finance and arms industries. In the aftermath top military brass can publish their account of events with relative ease, even though many of them saw little, if any, action. Their viewpoint along with official records, which were usually compiled and misinterpreted by people in offices far from the front, help to form a narrow and not necessarily accurate view. There are also the post-war parasites, who use this information to write fictitious books and make inaccurate films, hyped as fact. As for the average service person who actually saw excessive action, the innocent victims, they are the losers, many forced to live in dire poverty, whilst a minority prosper at their expense. True books have been written by war veterans who genuinely saw ferocious action, but it is hard to find such publications in large major bookshops. Instead there is an abundance of stories written by well known authors, who never saw action or were too young. They profiteer from using official sources and sometimes corrupting the genuine information from true veterans.

Wars are fought by forgotten hero’s for lost causes. In the passage of time, memorials become overgrown, ideologies mutate into other ridiculous patriotic beliefs and following generations, with the exception of a few, care little for what happened in the past. Enemy nations become allies and one time allies become the enemy. It’s time the average person begins to understand and question “Lemmings Culture” and in doing so sees the stupidity of war and realises it is a confidence trick of the highest order. Governments should be servants to the people, not the reverse. History has shown us those in power use, abuse and generally could not care less about those who fight their wars. An establishment minority profiteer whilst the masses suffer. A tough war leader usually gains popularity; the public generally aspire to bellicose rhetoric and “wolf pack” ideologies. Such mindless mass hysteria created by media manipulation should be a thing of the past. It is therefore imperative we question and continue to question any politician who advocates aggression as a simple solution to a difficult problem. It may be politically expedient for themselves and financially beneficial for a minority. For the average person, it has never worked, causes untold suffering and should have no place in the twenty first century.
