The book “My World War Two” was completed in 1999. It took David J Powis (co-founder of warveteran.org) ten years to write. Publishers were obsessed with reflecting their own stereotypical view. They also wanted to exclude a wealth of invaluable, truthful and controversial items. David J Powis was determined the truth be known and strongly believes integrity should come before profit. After several frustrating meetings with so-called experts, his son, Chris, decided to publish the book using his own savings.
With very limited funds the eight hundred and sixteen page book was launched. It was a hard slog but determination eventually won through. Following several local radio interviews and newspaper articles, word soon got around. In addition to praising the book, many readers were deeply moved and shocked to discover aspects of history that have remained hidden. Official documentation is often remiss of authorities improprieties. It became clear an organisation was very much needed; warveteran.org was born.
Warveteran.org is unique and cannot be compared with conventional Veterans Associations. We are international but do not have any symbolism, believing that a persons’ personality is their badge. We are not a club, we are for individuals.
Our Aim: is to highlight the hidden aspects of war. We are for anyone totally against conflict, especially Genuine War Veterans of any nationality, from any theatre of war, who face discrimination because they have no wish to be part of the media enhanced regimental exhibitionist cult that so many aspire to.
