1. Wartime Euthanasia and the Postwar “Government Directed Pensions Fraud.”

During World War Two, frontline Infantrymen that had experienced excessive action along with the unfit and patched up wounded were deliberately kept at the front with little if any respite. They were known as “Seasoned Troops.” Front Line Infantrymen and their families at that time realised it was a form of euthanasia in order to save post war welfare costs. Evidence of that policy was made  abundantly clear within the immediate postwar period when every effort was made to dissuade genuine claimants. A claimant often had to withstand psychological as well as physical torture. Many War Veterans that managed to endure the pain and deliberate humiliation were eventually given spurious excuses in order to terminate their entitlements.    

 

2. The “Care” Scam.

The NHS once provided home care for the elderly. Because, over the last twenty years or so,  the service has been privatised, the wartime generation are now subjected to stringent means testing to enable private home care companies to profiteer. If a War Veteran requires care, their life savings and assets can now be stolen by the state, in order to pay for the care provided, even though Veterans have already more than paid for their care in old age via National Insurance contributions during their working lives.  This government policy is nothing more than theft.  It’s morally wrong  to thieve off War Veterans, the elderly and vulnerable in order to make a minority rich. It should be a national disgrace.

 

3. Veterans’ Associations / Charities.

You may wonder why Regimental Charities remain silent regarding the above issues. A major Veterans’ Charity, that will remain nameless, is nothing more than a mouthpiece for successive governments. It successfully steers public attention away from the real issues whilst giving the impression of benevolence. If they are genuinely working on behalf of War Veterans, they should be a thorn in the side of all governments, not act as their lapdog!
