Hello,

Welcome to "My World War Two" Website. After being conscripted into the British Army in November 1939, I went on to survive the entire Siege of Malta and was amongst the first infantry assault to invade Sicily, Italy and France (D-Day), adjacent to where the film "Saving Private Ryan" is

depicted. Each invasion was followed by ferocious inland battles. I was returned to Britain suffering from shell shock, Malaria and a range of other medical problems. After a brief recuperation period I was put on a draft for front line Infantry action in Burma.

My eight hundred and sixteen page book took ten years to complete, reliving the trauma necessitated lengthy breaks, hence the long time scale. "My World War Two" is unusual and written from a perspective that does not glorify war. I have never worn my medals or belonged to any veteran associations. Militarism was forced upon me, it was not of my choosing. Sadly those of us, of all nationalities, who have no interest in regimental exhibitionism, but saw excessive front line action, are often sidelined, misinterpreted or ignored. The mass media continue to promote the medal clad, flag saluting jingoist image, as if such people represent all veterans - in reality they don’t. “My World War Two” is an antiwar book and gives a voice to those, of all nationalities, who experienced excessive front line action and know the appalling true reality of war and have no wish to be a regimental puppet or mouthpiece for militarism.

Since the war I have been appalled by media misinterpretation and glorification of hostility. This has resulted in giving many, who have never experienced front line action, a very distorted and simplistic view. It is my wish that having been subjected to six years of wartime hell, my amazing true story will educate and assist in preventing future conflict. If people knew the true horrors of the battlefield, it's doubtful any sane person would advocate war as a serious proposition.

If you wish to know the truth read "My World War Two", it is a book that could alter your perception of war.

Media Misinterpretation
Sadly, many war films are fantasy hyped as fact, they are an insult to those who were actually there and continue to give a distorted view. Such inaccurate films are an example of profit overriding integrity.
